A Dose of Reality

CAM02007~2.jpg

In October when we reached Boulder exhausted and weary from months of unrelenting projects and travel we were happy to take a few days to settle in, enjoy the city and evaluate the state of the house we were about to renovate. In typical fashion there were surprises and revelations that immediately indicated to us that more time and work would be necessary than originally anticipated. Joy! With a quick evaluation we were sure we would have to extend our trip from 6 to 7 months in order to get this house ready for resale. One of the biggest projects on the list included refinishing the entire basement, top down

The beginning of the renovation ended up being a purge and clean. Note: no ceiling, no flooring, poor lighting, unfinished walls, lack of walls, lack of trim etc.

The unfortunate part about renovations is all of the time that goes into the stuff people don't see, for example all new electrical (including moving the panel) and reworking the ducting. Not so fun stuff and time consuming. At least we can show off this new wall and barn door, Josh custom made the hardware to hang on the existing I-beam.

Post clearing some of the stuff out of the basement, dividing wall to storage are up and the beginnings of the new ceiling. Furring strips in place to hang a new wood ceiling.

Recessed lighting set. Soffit framing along right top wall to hide plumbing and conduit ready for drywall.

Next up: things get a bit more exciting as the finish work finally begins to take shape. Stay tuned.
